Buy Organic Atta Online: Biofortified Flour/Atta with 2X Zinc & Iron

Most Indian families eat roti every day. But the flour used to make these rotis is often only good for filling the stomach and not for long-term nutrition. A lot of cereal-based diets give you energy, but they don't have enough important micronutrients like zinc and iron. We want to change this at Better Nutrition. As India's first biofortified food brand, we make organic wheat flour that is naturally richer in important nutrients. Check out our organic atta range if you want to buy atta online that is grown in a clean way and offers real nutrition.

Why Biofortified Atta Is Better Than Regular Atta

Many people eat wheat every day, but regular atta doesn't always have enough important micronutrients like iron and zinc. This causes hidden hunger, which means that people eat enough calories but don't get enough of the nutrients they need.

Research indicates that more than 53% of women and children suffer from anaemia, underscoring the necessity to enhance the nutritional quality of common staples such as atta. That’s where biofortification plays a key role.

What Is Biofortification?

Biofortification is a natural breeding technique through which a particular crop is bred to be capable of capturing increased levels of minerals like zinc and iron from the soil. These nutrients are not added during processing, but rather present in the grain when it grows. This makes the wheat naturally enriched in vital nutrients.

How Is It Different From Fortified Atta?

Fortified atta improves nutrition by adding minerals during the milling process. But biofortified atta contains nutrients that develop naturally in the grain while the crop grows.

Explore Our Range of Organic Atta & Its Health Benefits

Different grains are good for you in different ways. Our selection of organic atta helps you make balanced meals every day.

Organic Wheat Flour (2 kg / 5 kg / 10 kg)

This wheat flour is made from biofortified wheat that is high in zinc and iron. It helps boost energy and immunity. It works well for growing kids and active adults. You can use it to make soft whole wheat rotis and chapatis.

Bajra Atta

Bajra atta is made from pearl millet, which is naturally high in fibre and iron to aid digestion and give you energy. It is ideal for people with iron deficiency and is often used to make traditional bajra rotis or theplas.

Ragi Atta

Finger millet is used to make ragi atta, which is naturally high in calcium and good for bones. It’s great for little kids and senior citizens. Use it to make ragi dosa or ragi rotis.

Why Choose Organic Atta?

Different kinds of grains are good for your health in different ways. Our organic atta selection makes it easy to eat healthy meals every day.

No Chemicals or Pesticides

Synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides are strictly avoided while growing organic wheat flour. To keep the soil healthy, farmers use compost, crop rotation and natural ways to get rid of pests.

Better Nutritional Profile

Organic atta is milled from whole wheat grains with the bran and germ intact. These parts provide fibre, B vitamins and minerals that support digestion and steady energy.

Supports Sustainable Farming

Crop rotation and natural fertilisation are two examples of healthy practices used in organic farming. These methods help keep the soil fertile and support a wide range of plants and animals.

Better Taste & Freshness

Organic atta is often ground with stones or only slightly processed. This preserves the wheat's natural oils and smell to make rotis softer and taste better.

How to Choose the Best Atta for Your Health

The best atta for your health depends on your diet and nutritional needs because different grains have different amounts of fibre, protein and minerals.

For Daily Rotis & Chapati

Whole wheat chakki atta keeps the grain's bran and germ. This gives you fibre, B vitamins, and steady energy for your meals.

For Weight Management

High-fibre flours such as bajra or ragi digest more slowly. This helps improve digestion and keeps you fuller for longer.

For a High-Protein Diet

Chickpeas are used to make besan, which is naturally high in iron and plant-based protein. Chilla and kadhi are two dishes that often use it.

For Gluten-Free Diets

Ragi and bajra are two types of millet flour that do not contain gluten. They also have important minerals like calcium and iron.

Health Benefits of Better Nutrition Atta

Better Nutrition atta is made from biofortified wheat and offers more of the nutrients your body needs. This lets everyday foods like rotis have a bigger impact on daily nutrition.

Up to 2X Zinc

Biofortified wheat contains up to twice the zinc found in regular wheat. Zinc supports immune function, wound healing and cognitive development, especially in growing children.

High Iron Content

Iron helps keep haemoglobin levels stable and prevents anaemia. Our iron-rich wheat is a great everyday staple.

Naturally High Protein

Biofortified wheat provides more protein than standard atta. Protein helps keep muscles healthy, gives you energy for longer, and makes you feel fuller after meals.

Rich in Dietary Fibre

The flour is milled from whole wheat grain with the bran intact. The rich fibre content supports digestion and helps regulate appetite.

Non-GMO & Chemical-Free

Biofortification does not involve genetic modification or the use of harmful chemicals. The crop naturally grows with more nutrients.

Unpolished Grain

The wheat is only minimally processed, so the bran and aleurone layers stay whole. These layers offer a lot of important micronutrients.

FAQs - Organic Atta

1. What is biofortified atta, and how is it different from organic atta?

Biofortified atta is made from wheat grain varieties that absorb more zinc, iron and protein from the soil. Organic atta refers to wheat grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, but it may still come from zinc-deficient soils common in parts of India. Biofortification improves the grain’s nutrient content at the seed level.

2. What is organic flour (atta), and why is it better than regular atta?

Organic atta is made from wheat grown without chemical fertilisers or pesticides. Farmers use practices such as composting and crop rotation to maintain soil health. It is usually milled as whole grain flour that retains more fibre and nutrients than highly processed flour.

3. Is biofortified wheat atta safe for children and pregnant women?

Yes. Biofortified wheat is made from grains that naturally soak up essential nutrients from the soil. Zinc and iron in the grain support growth, immunity and maternal health.

4. Which atta is best for health — wheat atta, multigrain atta, or millet atta?

The best atta depends on your nutritional needs. Whole wheat atta is good for making rotis every day for a balanced diet. Multigrain atta has nutrients from a number of different grains. Millet flours like ragi and bajra have minerals like calcium and iron.

5. Why does my roti not puff up with biofortified atta?

Biofortified atta is a whole grain and contains more bran than refined flour. For softer rotis, knead with lukewarm water, rest the dough for 15–20 minutes and roll evenly before cooking.

6. Does biofortified atta taste different from regular atta?

It may have a slightly earthier flavour because it is a whole grain and not bleached or polished. Rotis may also appear slightly creamier or darker. Most people adjust to the taste within a week or two.

7. How much zinc and iron does one roti from Better Nutrition atta provide?

Biofortified wheat targets over 38 ppm zinc, compared with 20–25 ppm in regular wheat. One roti weighs about 35–40 g, so regular consumption contributes to daily micronutrient intake. Recommended zinc intake is 17 mg for men and 13.2 mg for women.

8. Is biofortified atta the same as fortified atta sold in government ration shops?

No. Minerals are added to fortified atta during milling. Biofortified atta is made from grains that naturally soak up more nutrients from the soil.

9. Can diabetics or people with high blood sugar eat this atta?

Biofortified atta is rich in fibres that can slow down the breakdown of carbohydrates. This leads to more stable glucose absorption. But people with diabetes should still talk to their doctor about their specific needs.

10. How should I store biofortified atta to keep it fresh?

Biofortified atta doesn't have any preservatives in it, so storing it correctly helps keep it fresh. Put it in an airtight container and keep it cool and dry, away from sunlight. To keep it fresh, eat a 2 kg pack within 3–4 weeks of opening it and a 5 kg pack within about 6 weeks.

11. Where is Better Nutrition atta grown and milled? Is it locally sourced?

Better Nutrition works with 15,000+ farmers trained in biofortified cultivation across India. Farmers use soil practices such as zinc-solubilising microbes to enrich the crop. The wheat is then stone-ground to preserve its natural nutrients.
