Description
Ragi — also known as finger millet, nachni, or mandua — has been a trusted staple of South Indian and Deccan households for thousands of years, prized as one of the richest plant-based sources of calcium among all grains and flours.
Better Nutrition Sprouted Ragi Atta takes our biofortified finger millet a step further. Before milling, the grain is soaked and naturally sprouted — a traditional process that activates the seed's own enzymes and helps break down phytic acid, a naturally occurring compound in grains that can otherwise limit how well the body absorbs minerals like calcium, iron and zinc. The result is a flour that starts out naturally rich in these nutrients through biofortification, and becomes easier for your body to actually absorb and digest.
Each batch is naturally gluten-free, and — like our regular Biofortified Ragi Atta — naturally provides approximately 344 mg of Calcium and 11.5 g of dietary fibre per 100 g, along with naturally occurring plant protein, Zinc and Iron (exact protein, Zinc and Iron values for this specific sprouted batch will be confirmed from lab testing and printed on the pack, as our ragi collection page does not list mg figures for these). After sprouting, the grain is gently dried and stone-ground, a slower milling process that preserves more of its natural bran, germ and nutty flavour than high-speed modern mills.
Sourced from our network of farming communities trained in biofortified, sustainable agriculture, every batch is rigorously nutrient-tested and can be traced back to seed via the QR code on the pack.
Ragi, made a little differently—biofortified at the seed, and sprouted for better absorption.
TriNutrimaxx™️
Agronomic Biofortification is our farm-level technique for naturally increasing the nutritional value of crops by combining the right biofortified seed, nutrient-rich soil and precision agronomic practices through the crop cycle. Instead of adding nutrients after harvest, we work from the beginning of the farming process to help the plant access and retain higher levels of naturally occurring nutrients such as iron, zinc and protein. The approach integrates seed selection, soil, and crop management, farmer protocols and testing at harvest, creating a controlled seed-to-harvest nutrition system rather than relying on fortification at the food-processing stage!
